Your home office is a very important space where you should be able to enjoy spending time whilst feeling comfortable and motivated in your work! However, you don’t need to spend a load of money in order to make your office space stylish and appealing. Many people spend more hours of the day in their office than they do at home, which is why it is important we give the same thoughtful consideration and attention to designing and styling this space as we do our home. How you choose to style your office space massively impacts your productivity and quality of work, you want to include pieces which reflect your personality allowing you to feel happy and comfortable, décor which you can appreciate and will bring you joy.

CHALKBOARd

A fantastically trendy way to keep the creativity flowing in the workspace is to have an entire wall painted in dark chalkboard paint where you can put down all your tasks, thoughts and notes. This will allow you to feel organised and prepared for the day as everything you need to do for the day is in front of you. Or even if you are feeling creative you can draw some beautiful art to help motivate you in your work and allow the space to be fun and unique. This is an easy, stylish and inexpensive way to style your office and throw in some creativity to the space instead of using a dull everyday whiteboard.

Plants are known to benefit our health and well-being as confirmed by recent studies by NASA. As humans we find solace in nature, it allows us to reduce stress and alters the acoustic of a room. Therefore, introducing plants to your office will allow you to focus and relax more when doing work, increasing motivation. They also help to maintain indoor air quality which is important for an office space when you are spending long hours indoors. Not to mention, nature increases and inspires creativity!

UNIQUE DÉCOR

Allow the décor you use in your office to capture your spirit and personality or even your business! Incorporate touches which are uniquely yours through furnishings and storage. These pieces don’t have to be expensive; you can get creative with DIY and create unique, interesting furniture pieces whilst saving money. Try out antique and vintage pieces in the space to incorporate rich design history. You could also create a feature or gallery wall of art or family photos which you feel make you happy and inspire you in your work.

POP OF COLOUR

A striking item or paint can create a big change to a space whilst still working on a small budget. This is more efficient than spending loads of money on a variety of items as that pop of colour stands out and can fulfil a space. A vibrant Footstool or ottoman is a perfect example of a beautiful pop of colour whilst also having multiple functions as it can provide extra seating and even sometimes include storage. Some can even act as a side table. In a current project located in Woodford, we have used some beautiful unique burnt orange footstools in the space and although this is a small product, we feel it really completed the space and tied in all the colours together nicely. Sometimes in design, less is more, you can find it is the slightly smaller pieces which have a bigger impact.

DECLUTTER

An office space can easily get cluttered with papers, books, magazines, coffee cups and become overwhelming making it difficult for you to focus. Clean desk, clear mind!

The most effective and inexpensive way to improve the style and function of your office space is to tidy it up! Tangled cords, cables and wires can create a cluttered look on a desk and can become quite dusty. A good tip is to use clips or Velcro strips to tie them together so that they look neater, it is also good to try and hide them behind your desk, computer or décor piece. Books and magazines can also become all mixed up, try to use storage baskets to categorize and separate into topics with labels. This will not only allow the space to look perfectly styled but also allow you to feel more organised and tidier in your workspace.
