HOW TO CREATE A UNIQUE GALLERY WALL
What better way to inject character and personality into your home than creating your own gallery wall! Not only are gallery walls a timeless trend, but it is the perfect solution to transforming a dull and plain wall whilst creating a feature within your home. Allow the gallery wall to take centre stage in your home by choosing a brilliant location for it to stand out such as a hallway entrance or the most trending place, up the staircase!
COLLECT TO THE MAX
Discover some beautiful pieces of art, handmade prints or photographs that you love and start to create a collection. Try to find unique interesting pieces, if you are someone who loves to travel this is perfect as you can collect different pieces from all over the world. Whilst you start collecting consider the scale of the collection and how you may want to arrange it on your wall. Look out for inspiration and ideas so that you can envision your gallery wall in your home.

THEME
Once you have your collection, select your favourite pieces which you feel are unique or stand out the most to you. Create a theme within the pieces you have chosen for example family photos, places you have travelled, art or prints. Whilst doing this also consider the feel of the theme alongside the colours and how this will fit into your home as you want the space to be cohesive. Maybe you have a love for vibrant fun 70s style which reflects in your home and therefore a gallery wall full of bold yet colourful 70s artwork would fit in perfectly.

BALANCE
It is very important when creating a gallery wall to consider the balance as one frame place in the wrong place can throw the whole look off. Decide if you feel odd or even numbers work best for you, if you have a small collection of art and want a simplistic neat look even numbers with the same size frames is the best option. However, if you have a large collection of art that is fun and colour odd numbers with a contrast of frame sizes would work better as this reflects the fun and character within the art. When doing this type of gallery wall think about how you are placing the frames try to have a contrast of horizontal and vertical.

MEASURE Up
Ensure that you have planned and measured up your wall space and layout. A good idea is to lay out your collection on the floor and play on different layouts to see which you like best and which will fit on your wall.
Allow a bit of space between each frame and make sure the spacing is the same. You can use a pencil to mark up on the wall around the frames to allocate which frame is going to go where.

FRAMes
Decide on what style and colour frames you want to get; you may want your frames to be bold and stand out or alternatively you might want them to blend in with the wall. This also depends on the style of your home for example white frames would fit in with a Scandinavian style home whereas black bold frames are more for contemporary or industrial homes. Consider if you want all your frames to be the same or if you want each one to be different and unique in its style and colour.

STATEMENT PIECES
Start with your biggest pieces first, these are the statement pieces and should be placed evenly to create a good balance, then build around them with the smaller pieces. This will allow the wall to have an anchor within the collection. Try not to place large pieces next to each other, this allows the eye to travel across the gallery wall.

ADD PERSONALITY
Make your gallery wall personal to you, allow it to reflect your personality or events that have happened throughout your life. This allows your gallery wall to become unique and diverse but also special to you. You can do this through colour, art, photographs, items you have collected etc.
